He Leadeth Me

(Marie Barlow Martin)
Joseph Gilmore, 1862; William Bradbury, 1864
"He Leadeth Me - oh, blessed thought! Oh, words with heavenly comfort frought. What 'er I do, where 'er I be still tis God's hand that leadeth me.

Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom, sometimes where Eden's bowers bloom, by waters still over troubled sea still tis His hand that leadeth me.

He Leadeth Me, He Leadeth Me. Still tis God's hand that leadeth me. His faithful follower I will be! For by His hand He leadeth me.

Lord, I would clasp Thy hand in mine, nor ever murmur, nor repine. Content whatever lot I see since tis Thy hand that leadeth me.

He Leadeth Me, He Leadeth Me. Still tis God's hand that leadeth me. His faithful follower I will be for by His hand He leadeth me.

And when my task on earth is done, when by Thy grace the vict'ry's won - even death's cold wave I will not flee since God through Jordan leadeth me.

He Leadeth Me, He Leadeth Me. Still tis God's hand that leadeth me. His faithful follower I will be for by His hand He leadeth me.

His faithful follower I will be be for by His hand He leadeth me...for by His hand He leadethe me."
